Medical Specialist GroupThe MSG is located in Alexandra House and Mill House at the top of the Ruette Braye. There are several specialists who work both here and in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. There are several departments in the MSG and these are listed below. Department of AnaesthesiaThe Anaesthetists are responsible for administering an anaesthetic if you require an operation. They also run the Pain Clinic for people with chronic pain. All the patients in the Intensive Care Unit also come under the anaesthetists. Department of MedicineThe Physicians are responsible for looking after patients with medical problems. This includes patients on the Medical Wards. It also includes people seen for investigations, such as endoscopy, in the Day Patient Unit. They also look after patients in Bulstrode House. Each of the Physicians have a special interest and so they trend to look after patients with problems in their area of expertise. Department of SurgeryThe Surgeons are responsible for looking after patients with surgical problems. There are four sub divisions within the group of surgeons, and these include the Orthopaedic Surgeons (who deal with bones), ENT Surgeons (who deal with problems in the Ear, Nose or Throat), Ophthalmic Surgeons (who deal with eye problems). Department of PaediatricsThe Paediatricians deal with all the problems in Children. They also look after the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Hospital and the Community Paediatric Clinics, who work with the School Nurses to screen the school age children. Department of Obstetrics and GynaecologyThe Obstetricians and Gynaecologists deal with maternity issues, the pregnant mothers and other problems of a female nature. They work closely with the midwives on Loveridge Ward. They also deal with couples who are having difficulty in having a baby. Please see their Web Site for more details. |
