GP ServicesWe aim to provide the very best care for all our patients. Please note that not all the services listed below are available at all the Health Centres, so please check when you make the appointment if you are not sure. General Practice ConsultationsA full General Practice service is available. This includes management of both acute illness and chronic conditions. Most of our patients tend to be registered with a Doctor of their choice, but you are welcome to see any of the Doctors who work in the same Surgery. Family PlanningAll of the Doctors are able to give advice on Family Planning matters. They are happy to offer advice on any methods of contraception. There are female Doctors at each Surgery, and you may wish to see one of them to discuss some aspects of this. We also offer Coil fitting at each surgery, but you will need to discuss this with one of the Doctors first to make the necessary arrangements. Please note that vasectomies cannot be carried out at the surgeries, but patients can be referred for this. Driving MedicalsAll of the Doctors are happy to carry out driving medicals - for HGV, PSV, Disabled Drivers and medicals at the request of the Vehicle Licensing Authority. You can either bring the forms with you, or we do have a supply of them at the surgeries. AcupunctureMany patients find this very useful. If you have a condition that you feel may benefit from Acupuncture then you can ask your Doctor and they will make the necessary arrangements. HomeopathyThis is available at Cobo from Dr McKerrell. If you are registered with the Healthcare Group, then you are welcome to make an appointment to see him. If you are registered with one of the other Practices on the Island, then you will need to have a referral letter from your own Doctor. The Pharmacy stocks Homeopathic medications, and many can be dispensed on a Social Security Prescription. Minor SurgeryWe have well equipped facilities at each unit to be able to carry out Minor Surgery. You will need to discuss this with your Doctor first, but we are able to remove many skin lesions, moles, small lumps and cysts. Liquid NitrogenWe offer a Liquid Nitrogen service at the three main Surgeries. This can be used to treat many small skin lesions, including warts and verrucas. Due to the fact that we cannot store the Liquid Nitrogen for long, we only carry this out on specific days, so please ask when you book the appointment. Diabetic ClinicsMost Type 2 diabetics (ie Non-insulin dependant) will be looked after by the surgery. Some of the clinics are run in conjunction with the nurses. There is ever increasing evidence to show that the more well controlled patients with diabetes are, the less likely they are to run into problems in the future, and so we try and ensure all our diabetics are well cared for. Medical ExaminationsWe are able to carry out Medical Examinations for most situations. Please let us know if you require a medical, as there may need to be a longer appointment booked, and there is sometimes some paperwork that we need to obtain before you are seen. If you need a medical please check with the Doctor's secretary when you make the appointment. Medicals for VisasIf you are emigrating to certain countries, they may require you to have a medical completed before you can apply for a visa. This can vary a lot from country to country. Medicals for Australia, Canada and New Zealand are carried out by Dr Gill at the Rohais. Pilots MedicalsDr Ian Gee and Dr Peter Biggins are Authorised Medical Examiners for the Civil Aviation Authority in the UK. For Class One they are able to carry out renewal examinations. For Class Two they are able to carry out both initial and renewal examinations. Air Traffic Control Examination can also be done. These are carried out at Cobo. Please see our page on CAA Medicals. |
